The Vision
This documentary is a study of a faith journey. It is the story of a man who “broke barriers not by shouting, but by simply being too excellent to ignore” and built one of the most influential ministries in Texas. Our goal is to move beyond a standard biography and create a cinematic experience that honors the grit, the "countenance," and the unwavering faith of A.W. Anthony Mays.
The Emotional Core
At its heart, this film is about Legacy. It is for the student at Round Rock High who needs to know whose shoulders they stand on, for the member at The Mount who wants to understand the foundation of their spiritual home, for the young minister who seeks an example of a life in ministry and for a believer to be inspired by a life lived by faith. We are not just filming a man; we are documenting a movement.
CALL FOR ARCHIVES: The A.W. Anthony Mays Documentary Project
We are currently in the pre-production phase of a cinematic documentary titled "Thanks Be Unto God: The A.W. Anthony Mays Story." This project aims to preserve the journey of Pastor Mays—from his early days at Brushy Creek to his global leadership today.
To tell this story with the depth and excellence it deserves, we are seeking archival memorabilia, photographs, and video footage that capture the various chapters of his life. We believe that your collection may hold vital "puzzle pieces" to this narrative.
Items of Interest Include:
- Photographs: Early family life in Round Rock, high school athletics, early ministry at Sweet Home, Antioch or True Vine, and travels to Africa/Belize/Israel.
- Video/Film: Home movies, VHS tapes of early sermons, or news clips.
- Memorabilia: Original church programs (especially from 1969–1974), awards, carpentry tools, or athletic letters.
- Documents: Letters, handwritten notes, or newspaper clippings (e.g., Tyler Morning Telegraph, Austin American Statesman, etc.).
Our Commitment to Your Archives: We understand that these items are often irreplaceable family treasures. Our production team is committed to the following:
- Safety First: If you provide physical items, we will handle them with professional archival gloves and store them in a climate-controlled environment.
- Digital Preservation: We will provide you with a high-resolution digital copy of any item we scan, free of charge, for your own family records.
- Prompt Return: Physical items will be returned to you within 15 days of receipt.
How to Contribute: If you have items you are willing to share, please contact Zo Mays (Production Manager) at 979-574-5631 or zanyzc@yahoo.com. We are also available to meet during the week at Mount Sinai (8500 Cameron Road, Austin, Texas 78754) to collect or discuss your items.
Every photo tells a story, and every story helps us measure the impact of a legend. Thank you for helping us build this legacy.
With gratitude,
